Foaling Down

Foaling can be a stressful time for mares and their owners. Tengarra Park helps reduce the stress and risks of foaling by providing a foaling-down service.

Our Foaling facilities include:

• Designated foaling boxes - extra large and with new sawdust
• Cameras on boxes which can be viewed from the main house
• Foaling alarms
• Experienced staff
• Vet on call
• Nursery paddocks also fitted with cameras

Whilst no absolute guarantees can be given, it is our aim to provide a high standard of care that minimises the risks of foaling to the mare and her foal.

Weaning

At Tengarra we start weaning foals around 6-8 months. When weaning we take the foal through a 2 week course that enables them to become cooperative and introduces them to leading and human touch. Six months after this course we bring them back into the box for a week for a small refresher course. This has proven to be a success for Tengarra foals and has allowed us to produce well educated and cooperative yearlings.
